Dumbo Fancy Rat Sculpture Commission Complete by philosophyfox Dumbo Fancy Rat Sculpture Commission Complete by philosophyfox
This rat sculpture was a commission as a birthday gift for someone's husband who recently lost his heart rat. She was a Russian Blue dumbo rat, and I hope I did a small amount of justice to her memory.

Super Sculpey over a wire and foil armature. Painted with artist grade acrylics and sealed with Citadel Purity Seal.

Excellent sculpture. Are the eyes made of glass?

Thank you. The eyes are clay and painted and then varnished.

Have you ever considered giving them whiskers?

I have tried, but even fishing line is rather thick and messy. It's something to look into, perhaps invisible sewing thread?

But wouldn't that be rather floppy? Hrm...I've seen HunterWolf on FA use whiskers. Maybe he has a better alternative?

i use old paint brushes hair for whiskers on my sculptures, they have a good thickness without being to thick and standing out to much and look quite realistic.
